Stephanie Jeter (she/her)
Stephanie Jeter is the CEO and Co-Founder of Breaking Light Studio, a Chicago-based film and television IP incubator which develops and produces projects created by intersectional artists. Stephanie’s career has spanned more than twelve years working in production management on various network TV series, blockbuster feature films, and commercials. She has worked with companies such as HBO, Showtime, Fox Television Studios, BET, PBS, Adidas, and American Express. By focusing on cultivating intersectional narratives, Stephanie aims to enrich the current media landscape with more compelling, nuanced, and groundbreaking stories.
Stephanie is also an award-winning writer and director with works across film, television, and live theater. Her projects have played at festivals such as the American Black Film Festival, SeriesFest, Twister Alley, and Montreal International Black Film Festival. Her films have been distributed on Amazon Prime, Xfinity Streampix, and various international streaming platforms through Gravitas Ventures. Stephanie’s screenwriting has landed her accolades such as the advancement in the Sundance Development Track in 2021, and an invitation to the Stowe Narrative Lab in 2022.
Stephanie’s professional and creative accomplishments have been recognized with coverage in Deadline, Film Inquiry, Reel Chicago’s Black List in 2020, and the Newcity Film 50 list in 2022. She is a current member of the Independent Film Alliance Chicago advisory board and is a graduate of DePaul University.
